The Long Range Regional Economic Development Board (LLREDB), headquartered in Stephenville, is a non–profit community based organization that assumes the lead for economic development in Zone 9. The Board is directed by a nine member board of directors with a focus on Business Retention and Expansion, Tourism, Natural Resources, Fishery / Aquaculture and Agriculture / Agrifoods. Zone 9 services 54 communities, over roughly 14,000 square kilometers that stretch from Gallants in the north, to Highlands in the south; the south coast communities from Burgeo to François, and the entire Port au Port Peninsula, which includes 21,380 people (2006 census). The main service center for the region is Stephenville.
