  • Day 1: Arrival into Deer Lake Airport by 5 pm. We will greet you and transfer you to your B&B accommodations, followed by supper. Then we will take the opportunity to make sure that you have all your equipment and clothing organized and packed properly.
  • Day 2: A spectacular drive through Gros Morne National Park is followed by a short hike into Western Brook Pond. A 90 minute boat tour of the glacier-carved fjord and a 700 meter climb to the top of the gorge is an exhilarating start to the Long Range Traverse.
  • Day 3: Packing camp and donning our packs frees us to travel to Hardings Pond, passing through high country meadows specked with billion year old boulders, alpine flowers and dwarf shrubs, gives us the opportunity to drink the headwaters of the mighty Humber River, one of the most productive Atlantic salmon rivers in North America.
  • Day 4: The hike out to Baker’s Brook Gorge is exciting, and the view above the fjord is breath-taking! We travel back into a lush meadow nestled between the mountains… a special spot... secluded and perfect for a restful evening.
  • Day 5: As we wind our way past Green Island Pond, named for an emerald green island in its midst, with rocky hilltops, rolling valleys, bright colours of green, brown, yellows and red make a kaleidoscope of wildness. Our last night at camp is spent beside two ponds that reflect the evening sun.
  • Day 6: We take a steep detour down to Ferry Gulch, and hike to the top of Gros Morne Mountain (806 metres), then back to Ferry Gulch for the night.
  • Day 7: We hike back down the Gros Morne Trail, saying goodbye to the landscape forever etched in our minds... the day concludes with a short drive to Deer Lake Airport for flights leaving in the afternoon.
