It is also an example of a river that virtually as every class and spawning pattern of salmon known to science.

The Humber River is located on the West Coast and flows into the Humber Arm of Bay of Islands. It is the largest salmon producing river in Western Newfoundland. The river has a total drainage area of 8,124 km. It has excellent smolt and parr rearing water. The total length of all streams on the Humber River system to which adult Atlantic salmon return to spawn is 2450,50km.
