Top Notch

To describe Francois would be to say that it is a living, breathing museum of what outport Newfoundland was and still is. Here you can go back in time to when life was simpler and slower paced.

You’ll cruise to two resettled communities Parson’s Harbor and Recontre. When you visits Parson’s Harbor you’ll see reminents of a time lost and a way of life that was forever changed. See the magnificant beauty that remains in these picturesque ruins, ruins that are priceless pieces of Newfoundland's history. Hike on a trail that was used as a link for news and visits between the villages of Parson's Harbour and Rencontre West.

Rencontre West is another resettled village, but Here life abounds during the warmer months and the community has been kept alive by other's who did not want to see it die. The history of this town and the respect for it's former residents have been shown in the way this community has been kept alive.

Hike to Francois Point. A working automated lightstation that sits atop a 350 foot cliff at the enterance to Francois and gives a breathtaking view of the coastline.
