Plane Trail

The trail was named after an American Military plane crash near the top of Table Mountain. In the early 1940’s, the US Army chose Stephenville, Newfoundland as the site for the Earnest Harmon Air Force Base because of its excellent flying conditions and strategic position in the world.
From the top of Table Mountain, 1250 feet, you’ll have a spectacular view of the sparkling Atlantic Ocean, and the quite Port au Port Bay. Also, if you hike very quietly, moose may be glimpsed as they make their home in the hidden fens and tuckamore groves among the convolutions of the Table Mountain.
And for the adventure enthuses there is also great rock climbing in the area.
